HEADING FOR BOSTON - The members of the 2006 Atlantic Canadians Chowder Cup Team were announced Saturday afternoon. PEI'S KNOX RBC FINANCIAL PLAYER OF YEAR STREETSVILLE, ON 05-13-06
Jordan Knox of the Summerside Western Capitals of the Maritime Junior A Hockey League was named the 2006 RBC Financial Group Canadian CJAHL Player of the Year. The RBC Financial Group Canadian CJAHL Player of the Year Award goes to the Canadian Junior "A" hockey player who has best combined hockey skills and achievement with community involvement during the season. Knox was a two time Player of the Week of the MJAHL (December 27, November 7), led his team in goals (54) and ranked second in points (103). He was a member of the Cornwall Thunder of the NB-PEI Major Midget AAA Hockey League who were the Atlantic representatives at the 2003 National Midget Championship, now the TELUS Cup in Kenora, ON. A native of Skinner’s Pond PEI, Knox was the Capitals first round (fourth overall) pick in the 2004 MJAHL Midget draft. The product of the Cornwall Thunder Midget program is currently taking courses at UPEI with the hope of obtaining a NCAA scholarship in the future.
The Thunder has a great history of players moving to a higher level. Nathan Snowie, Bradley Gallant, Josh McKinnon, Jonathan Cameron, Greg O’Brien, Chris MacDonald, Jeff walker and Adam McQuaid have or are all playing Major Junior.
Adam was also drafted in the 2nd round of the 2005 entry draft by the Columbus Bluejackets of the NHL.
The Thunder have several former and current players that are highly ranked in the upcoming QMJHL draft. Allan Clow is rated to go in the 1st round, while Randy Cameron - 2004 - 2005 Season(Summerside Capitals) is ranked in the 2nd round. Chad Cameron, Ryan Taylor, William Johnston, Neil Sherren and Daniel Whalen (Summerside Capitals) are also ranked

Randy Cameron (2004 - 2005) drafted in the 2nd round , 40th overall by QMJHL Moncton Wildcats.
Alan Clow (2005 - 2006) drafted in the 5th round, 77th overall by the QMJHL PEI Rocket
Daniel Whelan (2005 - 2006) drafted in the 6th round, 92nd overall by the QMJHL St John's Fog Devils. Dan joins Josh McKinnon (2003 - 2004) who was drafted 10th overall in 2005
On Friday December 23 the Cornwall Thunder will be honouring the members of the 2002/2003 Atlantic Championship team that represented the Atlantic region at the Nationals in Kenora. They will also be honouring Adam McQuaid , who played with them in their inaugural year. Adam was drafted by the Subdbury Wolves in 2003 and was drafted in the 2nd round by the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2005.
